Great article from BOTH a "liberal" AND a "conservative" perspective. In my field, the performing arts, what's happening is that organizations are starting to panic away from just required vaccination toward, first, masking and now even a return to social distancing, which defeats the point. The live theater and concert hall experience is all about the willingness to sit next to a stranger - it's been that way for hundreds of years. This is what was supposed to happen as we start the 2021-2022 season after 18 months of shutdown. Overreacting to so-called "breakthrough" "cases" - yes, both words in quote-marks - is doing nobody any good when you are simply not going to be hospitalized or buried. Zeynep Tufekci's articles in the New York Times, although sometimes a little too long, explore much the same territory. Thanks.
